I have observed a difference between furnace and sample thermocouples reading. What can be a reason?

The temperature difference in 10-30°C is observed for certain furnace models. It can be explained by different locations of the ProboStat and the furnace thermocouples. The furnace thermocouple can also be shielded by the insulation layer and does not read an accurate temperature in the furnace volume. The ProboStat thermocouple reads temperature close to a sample, and should be considered as a correct one.

If the temperature difference is several hundred degrees, check the furnace PID controller settings. It has to be set to the same thermocouple type as used in the ProboStat setup.

In order to avoid manual temperature adjustment in the first case and struggling with a PID controller in the second, we suggest you to install Omega Temp. Omega Temp is software developed by NORECS AS for operating your furnace intelligently and easily.
