Should I get the Ni-plated brass or the stainless steel version of the base unit?
The Ni-plated brass base unit is the standard version. It is cheaper and has better heat transfer between the cold end (cooling water if used) and the hottest parts of the base unit, thus improving the lifetime of the hottest parts when the cell is used at very high temperatures. The stainless steel base unit is recommended if you will work with corrosive gases or with the stainless steel outer tube for high pressures.
