Can I apply a sealing grease to the O-rings of the cell to improve gas tightness?
Yes. However we strongly recommend that you avoid the silicone-containing greases. The silicone may eventually, via your fingers and in others ways, find its way to objects in the high-temperature zone, where it will evaporate and contaminate your samples with a thin SiO2 layer. Instead, use a high-vacuum quality grease, like Glisseal HV. We do not recommend using grease when measuring in pure O2 due to a risk of ignition. |
